Mentoring Atlanta

As you are aware, the city of Atlanta has re-opened all of the Atlanta community centers in your neighborhood as a priority initiative of Mayor Kasim Reed. The Mayor’s vision is that all of the centers will become Centers-of -Hope for all youth in the Atlanta communities. The United Brothers of America has partnered with Atlanta Cares and Atlanta Department of Parks, Recreation, and Culture Affairs and other key community organizations to deliver “Mentoring Atlanta”; a character development program for youth 8 to 18 in twenty nine (29) of the Atlanta community centers.

“Mentoring Atlanta” is a group and team mentoring program for at - risk youth that increase the 40 developmental assets that are the building blocks of character development and empower youth to use their power as change agents in their local community through service learning projects.

We realize that the success of this mentoring program is only sustainable if community stakeholders are included in a collective effort to support the youth at the community center(s) in their neighborhood. To meet this objective, we are establishing community partnerships, recruiting mentors and mentees to deliver this unique mentoring program in the center (s) located in your immediate neighborhood. During the next five (5) weeks, we are seeking participation from neighborhood leaders and organizations that are interested in adopting its nearest community center(s) to support the program that will start on April 4th.
